J12 Reading Plan
The J12 reading plan is about giving God 12 minutes of your day, every day. During that 12 minutes we read a portion of scripture, pick a verse that stands out, and then journal on that verse to help us apply it to our lives.
Journaling about what read each day is super easy! We use the SOAP method, which stands for Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer. First we pick a verse and rewrite it in our own words (Scripture), then we write down what we think God is trying to say in general or in principle in that verse (Observation). Next we take what God is saying and apply it to a specific area of our lives (Application). Last, we write down a short prayer asking God to help us do what He has just put on our hearts to do.
A sample SOAP method journal entry looks like this:
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:15 “He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.”
Observation: God wants me to live my life for Jesus and not for myself.
Application: Living for Jesus means loving God with all that I am and loving others. I am loving God more today by spending time reading the Bible. I can love others today by being nice to my brother even if he is super annoying.
Prayer: Father, help me to love you more each day with my actions and to love the people in my life, even if they are really hard to show love to. Amen!
